My Orthopedic Rehab in Bavaria07 Dec 2024Elena Daehnhardt |
Hello, my Dear Reader,
We have celebrated this blog’s birthday of three years, a bit later this year.
Why so late? This year was really busy and challenging for me and my beloved husband. We were pretty sick, and I had difficulty finding a moment to learn new things about AI. I had some mobility issues and am still battling them. Andreas was reborn to life again.
Andreas and I are in Bavaria, Germany, doing our rehab with fantastic results. You see the first snow view out of a window of our clinic. It is so beautiful here in Bavaria, which helps people recover physically and mentally.
We like it very much here and are grateful for the possibility of improving our health and starting work effectively again. Besides lovely people, good food, and plenty of exercise, we love the picturesque nature here.
However, everything is possible. I am walking without crutches and have started to dance a bit. Andreas feels much better, and the atmosphere is welcoming and warm.
What did I achieve in these four weeks of rehab? I have accomplished most of my goals except for losing the weight I gained from daily chocolate eating during stressful times. I still have three kilograms to lose, which I will achieve next spring.
My goals achieved in the rehab are as follows:
- Activate inactive three muscles that were strangely not working on both legs. The muscles are active now!
- Start walking without crutches. Done, with an occasional crutch when committing.
- Start walking stairs forward (yet in progress, but I do it slowly).
- Leg raises in all possible directions.
- Improve all the muscle groups, including the core, arms, legs, and glutes, which are important for good mobility.
How did I do it? I had to go through pain and much effort. Thanks to my stubbornness, I was able to do the challenging, plentiful exercises every day without a brake!
Indeed, my dear husband Andreas also greatly supported me, encouraging me to keep going while he was also seriously ill. He is a true hero!
My family and friends are my big motivation. However, those who motivated me not less are the courageous and hard-exercising fellow patients, knowledgeable doctors and great physiotherapists providing me with the motivation and guidance I needed. Thank you very much, guys. Be healthy and happy!
This was a great life lesson for me. Now, I do more exercises and am still changing my late-night coding habits to adjust to my circadian rhythms. I will share this story later.
