Glossary of AI Terms
- AI (Artificial Intelligence): A computer program that can perform tasks that usually require human intelligence, like recognizing pictures or understanding language.
- Data: Information (numbers, text, images) that we feed to a computer so it can learn.
- Generative AI: A type of AI that can create new things (like stories or art) instead of just analyzing existing things.
- Label: The “answer key” we give to an AI during training (e.g., telling it “This picture is a CAT”).
- Layer: A slice of a Neural Network. Data passes through many layers, getting smarter at each step.
- Machine Learning: A way of teaching computers by showing them examples instead of writing strict rules.
- Model: The “brain” of the AI after it has finished training. It contains all the patterns it learned.
- Neural Network: A computer program designed to think like a human brain, using nodes and connections.
- Node: A tiny “neuron” in a Neural Network that holds a number and passes it to the next layer.
- Prompt: The text instructions you give to an AI to tell it what to do.
