A scary story of how gigantic ants conquered humans

The Rise of the Colony

In the quiet town of Willow Creek, life dwindled into predictability. Days morphed into weeks, weeks into months, as the townsfolk repeatedly passed through the motion of meaningless routines. It wasn’t until one fateful summer when the ground began to tremble, and shadows loomed overhead, that the residents became aware of the lurking terror beneath their feet.

One early morning, Ellie, a daring seventeen-year-old with a penchant for adventure, decided to explore the dusty woods bordering her backyard. She had often heard tales of strange creatures lurking in the forest, but she dismissed those stories as mere fiction. Stretching in the sunlight, she breathed in the fresh air, oblivious to the whispers carried on the breeze—whispers warning her of the impending doom.

As Ellie delved deeper into the woods, an uncomfortable sensation clawed at her intuition. The trees stood silent, too still—watchful, as though nature herself were holding her breath. Just then, her foot stumbled over something large and gnarled beneath the underbrush. Curiosity piqued, she knelt to inspect a mound of earth that appeared out of place.

The walls rattled, and echoes of her power trembled through the hearts of Ellie and her friends, freezing them in place. The queen launched forward, her massive body barreling toward them, her mandibles snapping ferociously.

In that split second, fear escaped Ellie’s lungs as she thought of her town, her friends, their laughter muted by the dirt that now filled the air. She lunged forward, a mere human raging against the fate of her people. Hoping against all odds, she tossed a rock—any object—to distract the queen as her friends flanked her.

But it was all in vain. The queen turned her wrath upon them. The last thing Ellie remembered was the crushing weight of a thousand legs as shadows engulfed her existence.

In the aftermath, Willow Creek became a ghost town, reclaimed by the wilderness. The colony thrived, its numbers multiplying, dominating the land for generations to come. Whispers of the girls’ bravery turned into tales of horror—stories shared on chilly nights, warning the townsfolk of the creatures waiting just beneath the earth.

From that point on, the world marveled at the ‘fall of humanity,’ but in truth, Ellie’s adventure became a part of the Ant Kingdom's legend—a reminder of how the smallest creatures, when united, can topple kingdoms much larger than themselves.

And there, on the throne of bones deep within the earth, the queen awaited her next challenge.

Personally, I start from creating an image in Midjourney (you can use Leonardo AI or any image generator of your choice). I start with a prompt like this:

Midjourney is not free, so you can use tools such as CGDream allowing to generate a few images for free. In CGDream, you can mix several filters, adjust their strength for generating images. What is good about CGDream, there is no need for detailed prompts as in Midjourney since they have a special “dream” button to enrich your prompts with more details. One big drawback is that the free version is restricted, and the app is currently unavailable in some countries.
